My name is Quein and I am a blog commenter for the Manaiakalani Summer Learning Journey. I was very impressed with your post, thank you for sharing your mahi. You spoke very clearly and confidently in your video- Ka Pai!!! I was very impressed by your scientific acumen as you began with a hypothesis and proceeded to test your hypothesis. It was Great to see you test your hypothesis and provide clear and logical explanations and conclusions as to why the sail boat did not float and the second boat did. I can see you put a lot of effort into the post and creation of the boats- Thank you!!!I was very impressed, you should be very proud of your mahi.
Do you think a wooden raft or boat would float better than a paper one?
Keep up the Amazing work!!! I am really looking forward to your next post.
Ngā mihi,
Quein
Hi Quein,
ReplyDeleteI thing a wooden boat or raft would float better especially if it had people or animals on board because the paper would get soggy and the everyone would fall straight through.
Thanks Benjamin

Thank you for your reply, that is a very logical and well done answer. Yes I agree a wooden boat would be better because of the reasons who have outlined. I really enjoy your intellectual and logical approach to problem solving, this shows you have a good grasp of critical thinking which is an excellent characteristic to have.
Excellent work!!!
Keep up the Amazing work!!! I am really looking forward to your next post.

Kia ora Benjamin,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Fiona and I am a Manaiakalani facilitator based in Taranaki. It is great to see that you are getting involved in the summer learning journey.
I really like your boat designs, and the clear confident way that you described each of your designs in your video. What a great idea to test two different versions of your boat to test out. I wonder what changes you could make to your sail boat design to get it to stay upright?
Keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing more great quality posts from you during the summer learning journey.
Ngā mihi,

Hello Fiona,
ReplyDeleteI think one way tay keep the sailboat upright would be to put more wait on the other side of the boat so it did not fall into the water.
Thanks Benjamin
Kia ora Benjamin,
DeleteThat's a really good idea, it's great to see you thinking about what modifications might improve your boat design.
Cheers,
Fiona
