waitangi day- imagine being there and signing the treaty
If I was at Waitangi day, I would sign it because if you didn't your country could end up in war. Then you would risk death.? You would not want to kill someone else either. Back in those days you would have to kill animals too like moa that are now extinct. The Treaty of Waitangi is an agreement made in 1840 between representatives of the British Crown and more than 500 Maori chiefs. It resulted in the declaration of British sovereignty over New Zealand by Lieutenant Governor William Hobson in May 1840. There were about 50 signing meetings between February and September in 1840 and 540 chiefs gave their agreement.
Would you sign the treaty if you could?
